OUR WORK
our work
Cedarhill Animal Sanctuary is committed to providing lifelong care to rescued animals while advocating for their protection and well-being. Our mission extends beyond sanctuary walls—we educate the public about the dangers of exotic pet ownership, the importance of responsible livestock care, and the necessity of spaying and neutering domestic dogs and cats.
We serve as a voice for the voiceless, fighting against roadside zoos, backyard breeding, puppy mills, and unchecked kitten populations. Above all, we show our animals the love and care they deserve, ensuring that each one finally experiences compassion, safety, and dignity. Join us in making a difference—because every animal deserves a better future.

WHAT WE DO
Education. Advocacy, Animal Care
Beyond rescue, Cedarhill Animal Sanctuary is deeply committed to education, advocacy, and responsible animal care. We believe that saving lives doesn’t stop at providing shelter—it means addressing the root causes of suffering and ensuring lasting change for both animals and the communities around them.
WHY IT’S ESSENTIAL
One of the greatest threats to wildlife is exotic pet ownership. Many people acquire big cats and other wild animals without understanding the immense responsibility and dangers involved. These animals often suffer from inadequate care, confined spaces, poor nutrition, and lack of proper medical treatment. Through outreach and education, we help the public understand why wild animals belong in their natural habitats, not in private homes or roadside attractions.
BIG CAT PUBLIC SAFETY ACT
The Big Cat Public Safety Act, signed into law on December 20, 2022, bans private ownership of big cats and restricts direct public contact with them.
LIVESTOCK CARE
We also promote responsible livestock care, recognizing that farm animals deserve respect and proper treatment. Many livestock endure harsh conditions, neglect, or abandonment when they are no longer deemed profitable. We support humane practices, ensuring these animals are valued and protected rather than treated as disposable commodities.
HORSE CARE
Routine care and a balanced diet are essential to maintaining a horse's health and well-being. Regular veterinary check-ups, hoof care, dental exams, and parasite control help prevent illness and discomfort. A proper diet—consisting of quality forage, clean water, and appropriate supplements—supports digestion, energy levels, and overall health. Overfeeding or nutrient deficiencies can lead to serious conditions like colic or laminitis. Exercise and mental stimulation are equally important, ensuring horses remain physically fit and engaged. By prioritizing routine care and a well-balanced diet, owners can promote longevity, performance, and a high quality of life for their horses. SPAYING & NEUTERING DOMESTIC ANIMALS
Spaying and neutering domestic animals is another crucial part of our mission. Unchecked breeding leads to overpopulation, filling shelters with unwanted pets and contributing to the cycle of neglect. By raising awareness and supporting sterilization efforts, we help prevent unnecessary suffering and ensure that dogs and cats receive the care they deserve.
ANIMAL RESCUE
Cedarhill Animal Sanctuary provides a safe haven for animals rescued from neglect, abuse, and crisis situations. We advocate against harmful industries such as roadside zoos, backyard breeding, and puppy mills while promoting responsible care and ethical treatment. Overpopulation, especially among kittens, leaves many animals without homes—we work to address this issue through education and proactive solutions.
In addition to rescue efforts, we offer sanctuary to animals affected by natural disasters or left behind after their owners pass away, ensuring they receive stability and compassionate care. Through advocacy, education, and direct support, we strive to protect and improve the lives of animals in need. Join us in making a difference—because every life deserves a second chance.
