OUR ANIMALS

A SAFE LIFELONG HOME

Cedarhill Animal Sanctuary provides a safe, lifelong home for animals in need—from big cats like lions and tigers to small exotics such as bobcats and Asian leopard cats. We also care for rescued dogs, horses, and pigs, each with their own story of hardship and survival.

Many of our residents have suffered neglect, abuse, or abandonment. Through expert care, proper nutrition, and enrichment, we give them the security they deserve. Our work is essential in protecting these animals from exploitation, ensuring they live with dignity.

With your support, we continue to provide sanctuary, advocacy, and education to stop cruelty at its source.

Join us in giving these incredible animals a second chance—because every life deserves safety, love, and respect.

MEET KAMALI

Kamali, a 14-year-old tiger, came to Cedarhill after being rescued from a pseudo-sanctuary that was rehoming older tigers. Likely part of a former petting operation, she and the others showed signs of growth stunting due to poor nutrition and inadequate living conditions. Like her companions, Kamali had been on medication for joint pain and mobility issues.

At Cedarhill, she found safety, expert care, and a space where she could heal. Her story is a reminder of the lasting effects of captive exploitation—and the importance of true sanctuaries.

With your support, we continue to give animals like Kamali the second chance they deserve.

MEET TONKA

Tonka, a male tiger, arrived at Cedarhill at just three years old alongside his mate, Tawnia, who has since passed away. Previously privately owned in Texas, Tonka had been handled frequently and displayed good human interaction. However, both he and Tawnia came to Cedarhill declawed—an irreversible procedure that compromises their mobility and comfort. Tawnia also bore the marks of botched docked ears.

Now safe at Cedarhill, Tonka has the freedom to live without exploitation. His story highlights the dangers of private ownership and the importance of ethical sanctuary care.

With your support, we continue to give animals like Tonka the second chance they deserve.

THE SIBLING LIONS

Tafari, Jala, and Nombi, three unexpected siblings, found their way to Cedarhill after spending two years at Waystation Sanctuary. Their arrival was a surprise—born after their sire’s failed vasectomy! Fun fact: a full neuter prevents mane growth in male lions, but Tafari gets to keep his mane since his sibling sisters were altered at a young age!

Since settling in, these three have become the definition of spoiled, enjoying top-tier care and plenty of attention. With a combined diet of nearly 40 pounds of meat daily, feeding them is no small task!

Your support helps ensure they receive the nutrition and care they deserve.

SUNNY & SASSY

MINI HOURSE DUO AT CEDARHILL

Sassy, a mini horse, was surrendered to Cedarhill at just 2 years old in poor condition. Born with a congenital condition causing her back hocks to turn inward, Sassy has adapted well and remains active and spirited. Shortly after her arrival, Sassy gave birth to a colt named Sunny, named for the sunny day he was born on. Sunny has lived his entire life at Cedarhill and recently began treatment for a pancreatic mass. Despite his diagnosis, Sunny remains energetic and full of his mother Sassy’s resilient spirit.
